February 11, 2010. “War Peace” is a collaborative multimedia performance for flute, violin, cello, piano and percussion. This collaboration between composer Stephen Anderson from UNC Chapel Hill, and visual artist David Tinapple from ASU culminated in a live audiovisual performance. As musicians play the music, they are accompanied by real-time visuals projected on stage, controlled by software designed to interpret the live music.
Funding provided by the Institute of Arts and Humanities. Premiered at the UNC CHAT Festival, a university wide digital arts festival, “Collaborations: Humanities, Arts, and Technology”. The goal of CHAT is to bring together researchers, educators, students, artists, and professionals to discuss, demonstrate, and celebrate new media in the arts and humanities. The biannual festival was first hosted in 2010 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, reprised in 2012 at Duke University, and in 2014 at North Carolina State University. The CHAT festival returns to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2016.
